Our Unearthing History program helps you learn unique stories of Prince George's County, Maryland told through the sciences of archaeology and paleontology. Our different sites take you on a journey through time to chronicle the lives of ancient plant species, dinosaurs, and sea creatures, along with American Indians, colonial settlers, and enslaved workers on 18th and 19th-century plantations.
The Archaeology Office and Laboratory curate more than 1,000,000 artifacts and fossils from parks throughout Prince George’s County. The collections are available to researchers for educational purposes and can be accessed by appointment by calling 301-627-1286 or emailing archaeology@pgparks.com.
