Job Application Procedures

All Applicants

All applications must be in receipt of the Employment and Testing Office by the closing date. Responses postmarked by the closing date but received after the closing date will NOT be accepted. All applications may be used to fill vacancies in any Commission department.

Email resumes to Human Resources. Be sure to include the job bulletin number, the position title, and the position number.

In-House Applicants

Employees interested in being considered for vacant positions must submit a Promotional Opportunity Application to the Employment and Testing Office of the Human Resources Division by the closing date. Promotional Opportunity Applications may be obtained from the individual responsible for maintaining the bulletin board for your department or division or from The Employment and Testing Office of the Human Resources Division. For additional information on the Promotional Opportunity System, please see Commission Practice 2-12, effective January 1, 1977.

Outside Applicants

Qualified persons interested in any of the advertised positions may complete the Commission Employment Job Application along with salary history and requirements and may attach a personal resume. Submit the application to the Employment and Testing Office of the Human Resources Division by the closing date. You can also complete an application online. Your application must include the bulletin and position numbers as well as your social security number.

Continuous Eligibility Application Procedures

Outside Applicants

Applications for the following positions only will be kept on file for six months. If you have been deemed eligible for consideration for any of the following positions, we request that you do not submit another application for the same position during the six month period while your application is on file.

Career / Non-Career Employees

You must submit one Promotional Opportunity Application for each of the following positions for which you wish consideration. All Vacancies for These Positions May Not Be Advertised on an Individual Basis. Your Promotional Opportunity Application must be on file if you are to be considered for a vacancy on the continuous eligibility system. Your application will remain active for six months unless you have been appointed to any position within the continuous eligibility system.

Applicants for positions in the administrative aide series are required to pass a typing test. Please call 301-454-1411 or (TTY) 301-454-1410 to schedule a typing test. Applications must be submitted in person at the time the typing test is taken. Mailed-in applications will not be accepted.

Commission employment applications are also available at Montgomery County and Prince George's County Public Libraries, Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in Washington, D.C., and the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore City.

All persons working with minors will be required to undergo a State and Federal criminal background investigation.

The commission is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Applicants for employment may be subject to post-offer/pre-employment alcohol and drug testing. Individuals operating vehicles requiring a commercial driver's license will be subject to compliance with u.s. Department of transportation regulations. Successful applicants must provide written authorization to release past controlled substance and alcohol tests results. In addition, a certified copy of the applicant's driving record will be required.
