Patrol Units

Field Operations is responsible for law enforcement in the park system. This is accomplished by utilizing:
Officers proactively patrol the park system while engaging the community to ensure that the parks, trails, and facilities are clean, free of crime, and accessible to all.

Structure

Field Operations is the largest and most visible bureau in the Park Police Division and is comprised of our Captain, administrative aide, Lieutenants, Sergeants and more than 70 sworn officers. 

Responsibilities

Field Operations personnel are responsible for providing direct law enforcement services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to all who utilize the park and recreation system. This is accomplished by Park Police officers conducting proactive and directed patrols of more than 26,000 acres of property and facilities owned and/or operated by the M-NCPPC in Prince George's County.

Community Work

Officers work closely with staff and patrons at community centers in their beats. Officers are often assigned to attend youth development activities at parks and community centers, community festivals, the Prince George's County Fair, and other large, signature community events, to help provide a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for participants.
